‘He Will Not Be Mocked’: House Stenographer Dragged Off Floor for Speech About God, Freemasons

October 17, 2013

By Heather Clark

WASHINGTON – The stenographer for the U.S. House of Representatives was dragged off the floor last night as she began presenting a speech about God and Freemasons while lawmakers voted to end the government shutdown and raise the debt limit.

Dianne Reidy, who keeps record of proceedings for the House, was transported to a local hospital for evaluation following the incident.

According to reports and video footage, Reidy approached the microphone as the vote was underway. She then began to present an admonishment to Congress, gesturing with her hand as she spoke.

“He (God) will not be mocked,” Reidy declared three times. “The greatest deception here is that this is not one nation under God. It never was. It would not have been.”

“The Constitution would not have been written by Freemasons,” she continued as she was approached by two members of House security, who began pulling her away by her arms. “They go against God. You cannot serve two masters. Praise be to God, the Lord Jesus Christ.”

Representative Ileana Ros Lehtinen of Florida, who presided over the vote, continually pounded the gavel as Reidy spoke.

“The Sergeant in Arms didn’t try to stop her because she works there and that’s where she’s situated,” Representative Peter King of New York told reporters. “And she actually went up behind the podium where the president speaks from. They thought she was going to hand something to the speaker, and then they realized.”

Reidy was then escorted to a local hospital for a psychiatric evaluation and released.

Reaction to the incident has been mixed.

“People do snap. It could be anything, especially in the light of all the intense drama,” one commenter wrote. “It is in a way, a good place to snap as her rant was no different than a certain politicians that are walking rant machines.”

“Wow! Finally someone in Washington is making sense!” another stated. “I pretty much agree with everything she said. They are making a mockery of government and they’re absolutely insane to think America is ‘one nation under God.’”

Reidy told reporters today in a written statement that the Holy Spirit had been urging her to speak out.

“For the past two-and-a-half weeks, the Holy Spirit has been waking me up in the middle of the night and preparing me (through my reluctance and doubt) to deliver a message in the House Chamber,” she wrote. “That is what I did last night.”

“My wife is a sweet, level-headed wonderful woman of God,” Reidy’s husband added. “I am proud of her.”
