He was an accomplished high power rifle shooter, lifetime member of the NRA, member of the Illinois State Rifle Association and a certified range officer and handgun-training instructor for the Illinois Secretary of State Police during his career. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and many outdoor activities as well as the time he shared with family. He loved dogs.
