Cardinal's remark irks Canadian politician May 18, 2010 MONTREAL, May 18 (UPI) -- A Canadian political leader says she is outraged by the Archbishop of Quebec's suggestion that abortion is never justified even in cases of rape. Parti Quebecois leader Pauline Marois told a policy conference that the archbishop's remark counters decades of work by women to win the right to abortion, the Montreal Gazette reports. Cardinal Marc Ouellet suggested recriminalizing abortion in a speech on Saturday. The cardinal recently referred to secular support of euthanasia and abortion as celebrating a "culture of death." |
