Filipino Freemason Denied Catholic Burial

Thursday, May 27, 2010

Unfortunately, the struggle between mainstream Freemasonry and Roman Catholicism goes on. It is based upon a fundamental misunderstanding about what Freemasonry is and is not. But sadly, the fallout sometimes reaches out and slaps unsuspecting family members in the face in their toughest hour of grief.

Filipino Bishop Emilio Marquez of Lucena said he denied giving Quezon province Governor Rafael Nantes Catholic burial rites because he was a born-again Christian and a Mason who did not repent.

Unfortunately Freemasons For Dummies commentary as usual is based upon a fundamental misunderstanding about what Freemasonry is and is not, combined with a sadly selective ommission of the Bishops full statement.

“Canon 1184 states, that Church funeral rites are to be denied to ‘notorious apostates, heretics and schismatics’ unless they showed some signs of repentance before death,” the bishop told UCA News.

He said Nantes was “known everywhere” as a born-again Christian and to provide him a Catholic burial would cause scandal and confusion.

On May 19th, a former governor of Quezon province in the Philippines, Rafael "Raffy" Puchero Nantes, was killed with five others, when the helicopter they were traveling in developed rotor problems and crashed into a neighborhood in Lucena City.

Nantes was buried on May 22 in a private cemetery in Lucban town, Quezon. He was denied a Catholic burial service by Filipino Bishop Emilio Marquez because, according to newspaper accounts, he was a born-again Christian and a Mason who did not repent."

From CathNewsAsia.com "Freemason politician denied Catholic burial" on May 25th:

Bishop Marquez said Nantes’ sister, a Catholic, asked him to reconsider his decision, but accepted it after he explained Church law.
One can't but help wonder why the notorious schismatic 'Freemason-Catholic' Freemasons For Dummies is unable to 'grip' this elementary Catholic concept.

Perhaps Freemasons For Dummies should spend more time in prayer at his local Parish rather than traipsing around Mid-West Masonic Temples in a never ending book speaking tour 'explaining' to Freemasons why the Bishops of the Catholic Church are 'wrong' about Freemasonry and 'Catholic Freemasons'.
