Austin Business Journal March 8, 2004 Jack Hightower named chair of hospital Former Texas Supreme Court Justice Jack Hightower of Austin has been named chairman of the Dallas-based Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. Hightower served on the Texas Supreme Court until 1995. He represented Texas in the U.S. House from 1975 to 1985 and was a member of the Texas Legislature from 1953 to 1974. Hightower has served on the board of trustees of several organizations, including Baylor and Wayland Baptist universities. Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children is one of the country's top pediatric centers for the treatment of orthopedic conditions, neurological disorders, dyslexia and other learning disorders. The Scottish Rite Masons are affiliated with Freemasonry, a worldwide fraternal organization. Hightower is the Masons' sovereign grand inspector general in Texas. |
