Italian priest joins Masons

Rome, Feb. 19, 2007 (CWNews.com) - An Italian Paulist priest has become a member of the Masons, joining the group in a ceremony attended by about 40 people at the Masonic headquarters at Piazza del Gesu in Rome.

Father Rosario Francesco Esposito dismissed the Church ban on membership in the Masonic lodge, saying that it is a thing of the past.

The move by the 85-year-old Father Esposito is particularly interesting because he, along with Father Giovanni Caprile, SJ, was once commissioned by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith to study the Churchs teaching on masonry. In 1983 the prefect of the Congregation, then-Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, made a public announcement that the teaching of the Church had not changed, and the ban on Masonic membership remained in place.

Waiting for every Mason, if he goes up high enough in the order is a Luciferic Initiation, and the worship of "Lucifer."

"The faithful who enroll in Masonic associations are in a state of grave sin and may not receive Holy Communion.... Consequently, neither the excommunication nor the other penalties envisaged have been abrogated." -Cardinal Ratzinger, Sacred Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, November 26, 1983.

It's probably all about the hats. Priests don't get fancy hats. :)

Seriously though, does anyone know if all mason groups are as "out there" as the type that, for instance, Joseph Smith was part of? Is he required to believe something other than Catholic doctrine to be a mason? Thanks for any help here.

All Catholics (and Masons for that matter) need to be familiar with the frightening agendas of Masonry. They are the arch-enemy of Christian society, and Popes have recognized this since the 1700s. The Masons ignited the French Revolution and have been involved in toppling almost every Christian monarchy. Key documents for reading include:

1. Humanum Genus (encyclical of Pope Leo XIII)
2. Permanent Instruction of the Alta Vendita (TAN Books)
3. Behind the Lodge Door (Fischer, TAN)

"Esposito" means "born out of wedlock". Need I say more?

Read James Billington's "The Icon and the Axe: An Interpretive History of Russian Culture" to learn ALL about masonry -- its ideas and history. Very interesting too about Catholicism's history in Russia.

This is one that needs to be slapped down, hard and fast. Freemasons continue to swear blood oaths, and profess belief in a Deist God. That merits roundly the excommunication latae sententiae acknowledged by Bishop Bruskewietz. This priest needs to be suspended fast.
