The Reverend Bill Winthrop has rejected Masonic claims that his stand against the Lodge is a one man vendetta, pointing to support from the largest Anglican Diocese in Australia.
Mr Winthrop was referring to the passing of a motion in Sydney Synod this week, which declared that Christianity and Freemasonry are "fundamentally and irreconcilably incompatible and that Freemasonry teaches and upholds a system of false religious and spiritual beliefs that are contrary to Biblical Christianity�.
This motion had subsequently been criticised by the NSW and ACT Freemasons.
The Grand Master, Tony Lauer, had claimed it has been "a one man vendetta on the part of Reverend Winthrop, over a local issue and very petty situation ��
Mr Winthrop said there are over 700 members of the Sydney Synod, representing 255 parishes, with Bishops, clergy and lay people alike.
