No council members declared as Freemasons

THERE are no county councillors who have declared themselves as members of the Freemasons.
Following a Freedom of Information request to Herefordshire Council, the local authority said none of its elected members or employees have declared themselves as Freemasons.
But the council does not have a policy which specifically requires councillors to declare themselves as a member of the society.
The members� code of conduct requires councillors to declare personal interest as appropriate to the business being discussed at any time.
The council�s employee code of conduct requires that: �An employee must declare to their director the membership of any organisation which is not open to the public without formal membership, with a commitment of allegiance and with secrecy about rules or membership conduct.�
The Freemasons is one of the world�s oldest secular fraternal societies, made up of men who are concerned with moral and spiritual values.

No declarations, but there is at least one Freemason councillor, I'm told.

Rather naive of the HT to hope for them to be open about this when they are not legally obliged to be. A better approach would be to contact every councillor individually and ask if they (or partner) is a mason. Then publish a list of replies or failures to reply.
That would be more revealing.

So, next FOI request? How many have got their hands in the pot of the God bothering brainwashers that have pitched up on Commercial Road posing as a charity church (or tax dodging con men if you want to be blunt)

Council treasurer and s151 officer Peter Robinson is a mason. Or isn't he on the Council payroll any more? Any news on that?

Could be on garden leave whatever he is on - it will be at our expense - like the 23 errors picked up on in the Councils' Capital Out Turn report for 2015-16

Please excuse my ignorance but why do we need to know if certain people are Freemasons /Lions / Rotary etc etc
( I am not a Freemason in
case anybody thinks I am defending them )

My understanding of the situation is being a Mason you are inclined to favour your own and Councillors should really sit on the fence in a lot of matters eg planning

One reason is to try to find an explanation for the recruitment of certain individuals on high salaries despite dreadful previous track records, their survival and advancement despite further incompetence and wrongdoing whilst in HCC, and then their escaping eventually with large payoffs and secrecy surrounding the circumstances.
