VEREENIGING, SOUTH AFRICA - Four coffins containing what appeared to be human bones were discovered in a Freemasons hall in Rhodes Avenue, Vereeniging on Friday, police said on Monday.

Spokesman Superintendent Piet Van Deventer said police acted after they received information from an anonymous caller. Two coffins were found under the floor and two in the hall.

"The bones will be sent for forensic tests to establish if they are in fact human," Van Deventer said.

He said that no arrests have been made, but that charges under the Human Tissue Act were being investigated.
